3rd AFI Working Group Leadership Meeting – Closing Remarks from AFI Deputy Executive Director, Norbert Mumba

3rd AFI Working Group Leadership Meeting,
Monday, 3 September 2018
Sochi, Russia

Opening Remarks by Norbert Mumba, Deputy Executive Director, AFI

Chair of the AFI Global Standards Policy Committee,

Chair of the AFI Working Groups,

Members of the AFI Global Standards Policy Committee,

Ladies and gentlemen,

I believe we have benefitted a lot throughout the whole sessions today, especially this year where in line with the Working Group Strategy, we have a Leaders Meeting to make brief update on the work deliverables from each working group. Trust me, getting the “first-hand” information from the “horses’ mouth” gives the real “pulse” of the WG operations.

As highlighted by Dr Alfred Hannig during the opening, AFI is moving towards generating and promoting policy guidelines that ensure practical policy implementation solutions. Here, I would like to reiterate that leaders of the working groups play important roles to ensure AFI is on the right course in generating smart policies for better financial inclusion.

Ladies and gentlemen,

Thank you for your aspiring leadership throughout the whole year leading the WGs. It’s been 10 years of us (i.e you, members and AFI) garnering all efforts for better financial inclusion. In line with the theme for GPF 2018, Innovation, Inclusion and Impact, we believe WG is the platform towards achieving AFI goals/ambition/vision of being an AFI leadership alliance for financial inclusion.

Ten years and counting…, we look forward moving towards the horizon for 10 years more. Your leadership and strong support to ensure the WGs will take forward the agenda of delivering the AFI policy models is critical. Together, we will continue the efforts in further building the knowledge for the AFI network.

On that note, I wish you all the best for tomorrow WG meetings.

Thank you very much!
