Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan is a principal member that joined the network in October 2010. It is a member of six working groups with a focus on consumer protection and market conduct as well as anti-money laundering and countering financing of terrorism.
The central bank published a blog on the AFI website in early 2018 outlining its how Bhutan and India were using digital financial technologies to facilitate cross-border payments.
