“Banque Centrale des Etats de l’Afrique de l’Ouest (BCEAO), a principal member, received the Maya Declaration Award at the 2018 AFI Global Policy Forum in Sochi, Russia. The award recognizes AFI member institutions that have reported significant progress on the AFI Data Portal. As of August 2019, BCEAO had announced 22 Maya Declaration targets, of which eight had been completed. Among them was to implement global interoperability in BCEAO by end of 2020, involving all DFS providers, accounts and channels.

The regional central bank, a member of six working groups, joined the AFI network in January 2011. It has been an active participant of AFI capacity building events, including at member training on digital financial services and anti-money laundering and countering financing of terrorism.”
